Come on along with me for visit with revered knife maker and designer Ed Schempp in this Nutnfancy 2010 SHOT Show booth review. I spend some time with Ed reviewing several new models in the Spyderco lineup to include the FB25 Warrior, the C94 Slipits, the C134 Gayle Bradley, the C101 Manix2 (in blue G10, a project of Eric Glesser), the very exciting multi-colored full flat ground Enduras and Delicas (advocated here in TNP for a long time!), and some others. Ed has interesting insight to the history of the blades, their designers, the realities of knife production and quality assurance, their materials, and does some impressive name dropping of many respected knife and steel makers within the knife world. Also for you steel addicts, Mr. Schempp provides a technically superior insight into Composite Particle Metallurgy (CPM) steel smelting technology, steel compositions, and compares it against the more limited forging techonology which produces such steels as 154CM. We discuss that steel and VG10, CPM S30V (and variants), CPM M4, ATS34, rustproof H1, and a few others along the way. Put your thinking caps on for this part. And if that wasn't enough, founder and knife guru Sal Glesser himself drops into the discussion as well (!) and answers a question on pricing of the Temperance 2 and both give more fascinating insight to the Spyderco way and commitment to quality (which I feel equals any other production knife company around). It was a great booth visit that can might also serve as a reference video for the quality of discussion that resulted. Big thanks to Sal and Ed for the visit and for making some of the best blades in the world at affordable prices. ////////////////////// Music: Kevin MacLeod, http://incompetech.com/ Category : Tech
